As you ascend from the grandiose white-walled facade of the university, down to the marbled stairs, the ivory sculpture of the Greek goddess Athena awaits her visitors with glory and prestige. Known as the emblem of the Cagayan State University (CSU), the goddess of wisdom, handicraft, and warfare suitably represents a student body possessing excellent wit and strategic skills in the field of health, business, education, and management. This year, however, as CSU-Andrews Campus conducts its first virtual intramurals, the different colleges, namely the College of Allied Health Sciences (CAHS), College of Business, Entrepreneurship, and Accountancy (CBEA), College of Teacher Education (CTEd), and College of Hospitality and Management (CHM) are once again endowed the opportunity to flaunt their individual strengths in an overall exhibition of sagacity, brilliance, and finesse in the virtual realm.
Equipped with shrewdness to amplify voices, clothed with valiance and hope, loaded with indelible bullet inks, and saturated with persistence to stay as victors, the College of Allied Health Sciences, sons and daughters of Asclepius are prepared to defend the crown and protect its legacy against messenger of the gods Hermes of CBEA, wine and ecstasy god Dionysus of CHM, and Apollo, the god of prophecy and truth for the CTEd.
This year, henceforth, allow us to usher you to the arena sphere where the mighty green garrison awaits!
Event commencement.
Similar to any other event, the intramurals gave its excited spectators the first taste of splendour through a formal program which entailed an opening remark from the Vice President of the Campus Student Council, Richard Jay Cama, followed by the lighting of torches led by the governors of each college. The virtual green crowd was even more filled with uproars during the presentation of the competing clusters, and the initial display of CAHSian representatives–-Shierben Jay Gamiao, Ralph Alden Alipio, Alya Omar Alloush, and Margarette Bancud–-for the search for Mr. and Ms. CSU.
Flaring-up the dance floor.
We hoped you sat tight, and held on to the edge of your seats as the ever graceful talents, Venus Mallillin and Jess Alan, twirled and jived to the music of MYMP’s Kailan, Akin Ka Na Lang by Itchyworms, and Kapag Tumibok ang Puso of Donna Cruz. Dancing through three categories, the contestants bagged the 4th and 3rd places respectively.
Wielding pens, amplifying untangled thoughts!
The fun was just starting! In the proposition, “Governments should create a publicly searchable database containing the wealth and taxes paid by all citizens”, the green lion debaters of Asclepius bared their claws against the blue jaguars of Apollo (CTEd). In this battle of wit and sound discourse, the CAHSian representatives consistently roared thunderously proving that they are worthy of being epitomes of the king of the jungle.
Moreover, Michelle Mateo, and Jabez Natividad wielded their pens up high in a participant-exclusive session of the essay writing contest. Similarly, Mark Angelo Mabatan and Karyl Joyce Dawadao showcased their articulateness in the “Pagsusulat ng Sanaysay” event. Succeedingly, the impromptu speaking, photo extemporaneous speaking, and spoken word poetry had us glued on our seats as Erika Jeigne Felipe fluidly rendered her on-the-spot-oration. Likewise, James Edward Tagala transcribed a frame into a striking discourse in a photo extemporaneous speaking crusade. Another mighty green lioness, Garlyn Bernadette Daña, also channelled her verbal prowess and eloquence as she rhythmically delivered her poetry piece.
ESports, gaming strong!
Meanwhile, Team MalaCAHS demonstrated that they’re as legendary and unstoppable as their heroes in Mobile Legends Bang Bang as they achieved two wins against the representatives of both CBEA and CTEd, and are set to play for gold in the finals. Whereas, Doridocs also showed that they had the game in the bag as they emerged victorious against players from both CBEA and CHM, and were similarly qualified for the championship match.
Among the CAHSians who adeptly maneuvered their way in the virtual battlefield were: John Arevalo, Wyneth Kae Fronda, Kit Padrigo, Deborah Escalanta, Ella Faith Valdez, Regina Soriano, Robert Mangulab III, Kristine Malana, Heinz Macalino, Andrew Barut, Jhon Tamaray, Paul Domingo, Sean Amugauan, Christian Lubo, Edgar Erro Jr. John Dela Cruz, France Tuddao, Jel Valdez, and Jaidee Cristobal. Adding to the list of victors are Archie Langcay, Lanz Calagui, Douminiel Parallag, Hanz Calacien, Clyde Cabaddu, Paul Santos and Cezz Conel.
A night worth commemorating.

The night was still young and fun hence, the clash of the descendants of the demigods and deities alike continued to perpetuate stressing their skills in the fields of visual and performing arts. With their warm and enchanting voices, representing CAHSians were Jade Ann Bautista for Vocal Solo Kundiman who clinched the 1st runner up award, and Johniel Macabadbad who placed as 2nd runner up for Pop Solo.
Seeming as a gallery walk; a presentation of well-made handicrafts was exhibited to celebrate the ingenuity of Michael Angelo Carungi, and Jude Baysa in Charcoal Painting, and Digital Poster which made them garner the first and third runner up spots, respectively.
Whereas, in Greek Mythology, if Terpsichore is known as the patron of dancing, Asclepius’ Joseph Alan, Jr., who garnered 3rd place in Contemporary Dance, and the college’s Hataw CSUans troop, hailed as the conquerors, gracefully performed as if they were also reared from the same cloth.
With the mantras, “zealed and revitalized” and “fated to reign”, the king of the beasts, the mightiest green lions, guided by demigod Asclepius, will never back down and are ready to defend the title against the craven enemies. Enjoin us, this day, once more, as CAHSians pour their hearts out in an attempt to rendezvous with victory and continue their tale of legacy.
