PATHWAYS
Motivational Monday
By: Iris Rosan Marzan

There’s a lot of path that I could have taken, what I have to do is to pick one, decide which one is best for me, maybe a little easier, the one with wider road and with a little bump, or maybe I can choose the wilderness of the forest, I could also go to the humid desert, there is also a body of water I can cross using a boat, but I chose the take the tranquility of an open field with flowers that blooms. At first, I was astonished with the scenery, I took small steps, breathing in the fresh air and appreciating what was in front of me, until I’ve reached halfway and it was filled with thorns, I felt hopeless, how can I go out in here without getting scratches or bruises, it had me thinking that I should have chosen another way, I almost gave up, when something caught my eye, a small space just exactly my frame was free of thorns and it hit me, if only I had redirected my focus and look at the bigger picture, to not only concentrate with the thorns in front of me, but to recognize that I’ve started my journey with a breathtaking scenery, then how much more the end of this could have offer me.
Bravery, optimism, and determination is something I had equipped myself with, knowing that I’ve come this far, hence there is no turning back. I’ve chosen this path and I should condition myself that this is where I am supposed to be. Trying to figure out where the other path could have taken me would only keep me stagnant and divert my focus, instead of finding out that the thorns are part of my journey that I have to overcome. Just as I am, I believe we all go through the same circumstances and it confuses us, some might even take a drift, but I hope you do remember why you’ve chosen this path in the first place and you find courage to finish what you have started.
