ABOUT RENZ LOUIE E. GALANTO

Renz is the youngest in their family. He developed his passion for writing way back when he was grade 4.  He was started to join division schools press conferences at that time and was part of "The Messenger," the official student publication of Saint Dominic Montessori School. At that time, he was not fixed on a certain area of writing and he was able to experience writing editorial pieces and at the same time became part of radio broadcasting as an anchor. He continued his passion for writing when he was in high school, he tried to join "The Reconciler," the official student publication of University of La Salette, Inc. High School Department, although he failed to be part when he was grade 7, but he never lost hope.  He became an official member of the publication when he was grade 8 as a staff, and further moved as news writer when he was grade 9. He regained his confidence in joining press conferences during the same year and became a part of collaborative desktop publishing (CDP). He was a consistent regional schools press conference qualifier from grade 9 to grade 11 as a part of CDP and have gained numerous awards during the said years.

Aside from becoming a journalist, he was also one of the student environmentalists who served as Vice President for External Affairs for Young Environmentalists and Achievers in Science and Technology (YEAST) Club of the University of La Salette, Inc. High School Department from 2018 - 2019 and concurrently served as Associate for External Affairs at Philippine Society of Youth Science Clubs Regional Council Region II.

He toned down in journalism when he was 1st year college citing concerns that he needs to focus on academics, however, he still continues to write informally, and during the end of 2nd semester of academic year 2020 - 2021, he was asked by Prof. Erwin L. Rimban to lead the effort in building Likha Pahinarya.

At present, he is the Editor-in-Chief of Likha Pahinarya. Aside from such he is also part of The National Guilder, the official publication of College Editors Guild of the Philippines (CEGP) as news writer.

Journalism is not just pure piece of paper, it is life. When I speak of journalism, it weighs certain gravity that as we write, we are just not writing because it is need, we are writing because it is our social responsibility. Journalism gives life to fighting oppression, crime and war. My point on journalism is that we write because we know everyone has the right to know. I also see that journalism as of the moment is an essential thing to have. In the fight against misinformation and disinformation, journalism is an avenue to enlighten people about the truth on matters affecting everyone. Yes, people may rip it apart, but, like people, they may come and go, but, they have the impact to you, so as, journalism. People may come to attack, to destroy and to bar journalists from exposing truth, but, it still resonates to people, that, indeed, there is life in journalism, and that life serves to be a proof that journalists matters.

Journalism is an act, a life and a source of integrity and I am blessed to have understood and have learned such a profession.
